FINAL PROJECTPURPOSE

The final project is designed for students to demonstrate an understanding of HTML (HypertextMarkup Language and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). The website developed for the final projectshould reflect an ability to use HTML and CSS to format, structure, and display content on the web.

TOPICS / THEME

Students may select a topic or theme of their choice. Most websites are developed to provide information, gather information, or entertain. The site created for the final project should either entertain or provide information. Choose a topic of interest to you and appropriate for a public presentation to the instructor and fellow students in class

REQUIREMENTS

A passing final project must contain at a minimum the items listed below. You certainly can add more than the minimum listed. These will be the basis for determining your understanding of HTML & CSS.

  • Use valid HTML5 and CSS3 code All files should be checked to limit errors using the methodsdiscussed in class
  • Use External Style Sheets referenced on all pages for "screen" and print media
  • Use all three types of CSS Selectors: Type (Tag), ID, and Class
  • Use CSS to apply different font faces, colors, backgrounds, and borders to sections of content
  • Provide links to all web pages from the home page (index.html) and all other pages in the site
  • Implement Semantic Elements like header, footer, and nav to indicate content/functions in HTML
  • Insert image(s) on every page and include ALT text for each image
  • Insert a background image on at least 1 page of the site.
  • Use a Favicon
  • Use at least 1 Ordered List, 1 Unordered List, and 1 Table
  • Implement a Fluid (liquid) Layout or Multicolumn Layout with Float on at least 1 page
  • Use at least 2 of these CSS Styles: Opacity, Rounded Corners,Text Shadows, or Box Shadows
  • Incorporate at least 1 audio file and 1 video file (not YouTube) into the site
  • Add at least 1 HTML Web Form (ie. Email feedback page)
